📢 New in 2025: GoPro and GameChanger announced an official streaming integration. GoPro Hero 13 and newer can now stream directly to GameChanger through the GoPro Quik app — no complicated RTMP setup required.

Which GoPro Models Work with GameChanger?

For the easiest experience, the Hero 13 Black is the recommended GoPro for GameChanger streaming. Older models can work with extra steps via the GoPro Labs firmware but it's not officially supported.

How to Stream to GameChanger with GoPro Hero 13

  1. Update your GoPro: Make sure your Hero 13 is running the latest firmware. Open the GoPro Quik app → Camera → Firmware update.
  2. Open GameChanger and start scoring: The team manager opens GameChanger and begins scoring the game as normal.
  3. Enable Live Video in GameChanger: Tap Video → Go Live. You'll see a QR code or stream key.
  4. Connect in GoPro Quik: Open the GoPro Quik app, tap your Hero 13, then navigate to Live → GameChanger. Scan the QR code or enter the stream key.
  5. Check your internet connection: The GoPro will use your phone's WiFi or hotspot. You need at least 5 Mbps upload speed.
  6. Tap Go Live: Parents watching the GameChanger game will see your stream within 10–20 seconds.
⚠️ Internet Note: The GoPro Hero 13 streams via your phone's connection — either on the same WiFi network or through your phone's hotspot. At many youth sports fields, hotspot signal is weak. Consider a portable WiFi router to boost coverage if you have multiple cameras or unreliable cell signal.

Who Should Use GoPro for GameChanger?

Choose GoPro Hero 13 if:

  • You already own a Hero 13 and don't want to buy another camera
  • You want one camera for GameChanger streaming AND action cam use (helmet cam, beach, travel)
  • You're streaming one angle only and don't need live switching
  • You're filming outdoor games in rain or wet conditions (GoPro is waterproof, Mevo is not)

Choose Mevo Start instead if:

  • You want multi-camera coverage with live angle switching
  • Budget matters — the Mevo Start is $200 less per camera
  • You want a purpose-built streaming setup with the best GameChanger workflow
  • You're buying 2–3 cameras (the Mevo 3-pack with SD cards is the best value)

How to Stream to GameChanger with Older GoPro (Hero 12 or Earlier)

Older GoPro models don't have the native GameChanger integration, but you can still stream via RTMP using GoPro Labs firmware:

  1. Install GoPro Labs firmware on your camera (free download).
  2. Get the RTMP URL and stream key from GameChanger (Video → Go Live).
  3. Create a QR code with your RTMP URL using the GoPro Labs QR code generator.
  4. Point your GoPro at the QR code while in Labs mode to configure the stream.
  5. Start recording — the camera will automatically stream to the RTMP destination.

This works but is significantly more complicated than either the native GoPro Hero 13 integration or the Mevo workflow. I don't recommend this path unless you already have a GoPro Hero 12 or older and don't want to upgrade.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you use a GoPro to stream to GameChanger? Yes — GoPro Hero 13 has native GameChanger integration. Older models can stream via manual RTMP through GoPro Labs firmware.

Is GoPro or Mevo better for GameChanger? Mevo Start is better for multi-camera setups and costs less. GoPro Hero 13 is better if you already own one or want a waterproof, versatile action cam that also streams to GameChanger.

Do I need a portable router for GoPro GameChanger streaming? Not necessarily — the GoPro uses your phone's connection. But if you're at a field with weak cell signal, a portable router tethered to your hotspot can stabilize the stream significantly.
