If you only have 30 seconds: the items most likely to see genuine discounts are Mevo Start cameras, GoPro bundles, tablets, and power banks. Fence mounts and travel routers go on sale less often, but it happens. Set your expectations by category below — and don't buy anything at full price on Oct 5 that you could wait 24 hours for.
What to watch, by category
Mevo cameras
The Mevo Start is the default camera for GameChanger streaming — the simplest path from box to live stream. Amazon has carried the single camera and the 3-pack bundle for years, and both have been discounted during past Prime events.

What counts as a real deal here: the Mevo Start single has a well-established street price. If you see it more than ~15% below what it normally sells for, that's genuine. A bundle that throws in a case or SD card at the normal camera price is also worth a look — those accessories add up.
GoPro and DJI action cams

GoPro runs its own sales constantly on gopro.com, so an Amazon "deal" is only a deal if it beats GoPro's own subscription pricing. Compare before you click.
Tablets and iPads for scoring

Tablets are one of the most reliably discounted categories in any Prime event. Last year's models (rather than the newest release) tend to get the deepest cuts.
Hotspots and travel routers

Networking gear gets modest Prime discounts — think 10–20%, not 40%. Don't hold your breath for a blowout, but it's a fine time to buy.
Fence mounts

Mounts are cheap enough that Prime discounts are small in dollar terms, but this is a good moment to grab one if you've been putting it off.
Batteries and power banks
A Mevo Start runs about 6 hours on its internal battery — usually enough, until the day has three games and a rain delay. A power bank in the gear bag is cheap insurance.
Power banks are among the most heavily discounted electronics in Prime events. This is the category where "wait for the sale" most reliably pays off.
microSD cards
If you record locally as a backup (and you should — streams fail), you need cards. Look for 128GB or 256GB from SanDisk or Samsung, U3/V30 rated or better for video.
Cards are cheap and go on sale constantly. Don't overthink this one — just don't pay full price during a Prime event.
How to spot a real deal vs. a fake discount
This is the most important section on this page. Amazon's Prime event pages are full of "deals" that aren't:
- Ignore the strikethrough price. The "was $X" number is often the list price, which nobody ever paid. The only price that matters is what the item usually sells for.
- Check the price history. Paste the product URL into camelcamelcamel.com (free) before buying. If the "deal" price is at or near the item's normal price, it's not a deal — it's marketing.
- Be suspicious of huge percentages. "60% off" on an accessory usually means the list price was inflated, not that you're getting a steal. Real Prime deals on electronics are typically 10–30% off the street price.
- Compare against the manufacturer's own store. GoPro, DJI, and Samsung all run their own sales. An Amazon "deal" that matches the manufacturer's everyday price is not a deal.
- Watch for bundle tricks. A "bundle" at the same price as the camera alone, where the extras are dollar-store quality, isn't saving you anything.
- Set a target price in advance. Decide what you'd happily pay before the event. If it hits your number, buy. If not, walk away — there will be another sale.
