XbotGo No Longer Works with GameChanger: What to Use Instead

GameChanger has pulled its XbotGo pairing. If you bought an XbotGo Chameleon to auto-track games into GameChanger, the direct integration is gone. Here is exactly what happened, and the cameras that still work.

The short version: GameChanger's official help page now says, "We are currently revisiting the compatibility with XbotGo. That functionality is no longer available at this time." If your stream setup depends on the XbotGo pairing, it will not connect.

Why this matters for parents

The XbotGo Chameleon became popular because it is a phone-based auto-tracking camera: mount your phone on the fence, and it pans and follows the ball while you watch from the bleachers. Pairing that with GameChanger's scorekeeping overlay was an attractive setup for a lot of families, and XbotGo marketing and retailer listings leaned into the GameChanger pairing.

With the pairing pulled, anyone who bought XbotGo for GameChanger is left with a camera that can still stream to other platforms, but no longer plugs into the GameChanger workflow. The help page gives no timeline for the "revisiting" to conclude, and no guarantee it comes back.

Cameras that still work with GameChanger

As of this writing, GameChanger's supported list for RTMPS streaming is short:

Important: GameChanger caps external camera streams at 1080p. Even if your camera shoots 4K, set it to 1080p or lower or GameChanger will not broadcast or record your video. Also, stream keys are generated per event, so you repeat the setup for every game.

Should you still buy XbotGo?

Only if you plan to stream somewhere other than GameChanger. As a GameChanger camera, it is a dead end until GameChanger says otherwise.
